On April 23^rd, the Library on Gazetny hosted the opening of a series of public lectures held by the Gaidar Institute. The first topic addressed the question: Is personal data really more valuable than oil? The event brought together experts in law, digital ethics, and humanitarian missions, as well as attendees interested in digital rights and the data economy.

Leonid Irbekovich Urutskoyev, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and professor at Abkhaz State University, presented a review of Jason Socrates Bardi’s book The Great Math War, published by Gaidar Institute Press in 2026. This is the story of how three outstanding mathematicians—Bertrand Russell, David Hilbert, and L. E. J. Brouwer—in a fierce intellectual and personal struggle proposed different ways to resolve the Crisis of the Foundations of Mathematics, thereby shaping the development of science for the entire 20^th century.

On April the 21^st , the 2^nd issue of Economic Policy was available for readers. Economic Policy is a bimonthly peer-reviewed academic journal established by the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy in 2006.

Researchers of the Gaidar Institute’s International Best Practices Analysis Department prepared the next issue of the Monitoring of Legal Regulation of the Digital Economy №3(27), March 2026 where they talked about new trends in the development of regulation of the digital economy in the world.

The Gaidar Institute has released a new study “Developing a Methodology for Assessing the Impact of Artificial Intelligence and Automation on Labor Market Indicators” written by Andrey Zubarev, Senior Researcher at the Digital Finance Research Department; Olga Bekirova, Researcher at the Digital Finance Research Department; and Deni Sugaipov, Researcher at the Mathematical Modeling of Economic Processes Department. On April 14, 2026, an extended meeting of the Working group of the State Duma Committee on regional policy and local self-government on intersectoral cooperation between business and public authorities at the regional and municipal levels took place. Experts from the Center for Evidence-Based Expertise presented a summary of the top-level results of a comprehensive economic and legal study of the self-employment mode in Russia, conducted in 2025.

On April 13, the Library on Gazetny held presentation of the book by Alexander Knobel and Aleksey Ulyukaev ”China: The Anatomy of Slowdown”. The event brought together everyone interested in the current state and development prospects of the Chinese economy.

The Gaidar Institute's Industrial Organization and Infrastructure Economics Department presented a study on the factors behind dynamic and algorithmic pricing in the online segment. Detailed findings were published by Forbes.

The Gaidar Institute's Center for Macroeconomics and Finance presented a study analyzing the interaction between monetary and fiscal policies in Russia amid the macroeconomic instability of recent years.

The growth of online marketplaces in Russia is not undermining traditional retail; on the contrary, it is helping to sustain and grow the sector at the local level. This is the conclusion reached by researchers at the Gaidar Institute after analyzing the impact of online order pickup points on municipal markets.

On March 18, 2026, Maria Girich and Оlga Magomedova, researchers at the Gaidar Institute’s International Best Practices Analysis Department, participated in the 25th International Scientific and Practical Conference Smirnov Readings. The event served as a platform for discussing pressing issues in the fields of regional and sectoral economics, finance, and law, where experts from the Gaidar Institute presented their research and proposals for improving regulatory mechanisms in the fields of ecology and labor market.

On March 21, 2026, in St. Petersburg, Sergey Mikhailovich Drobyshevsky, Doctor of Economics and Principal Researcher at the Gaidar Institute, was honored with the International Leontief Medal “For Contributions to Economic Reform.” This prestigious award was presented for his outstanding contributions to the theory and practice of macroeconomic analysis and forecasting, as well as for his development of key directions in the economic, monetary, fiscal, and tax policies of the Russian Federation.

March 23, 2026, marks the 95^th anniversary of the birth of distinguished scholar, a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and principal researcher at the Gaidar Institute, Revold Mikhailovich Entov.
