We invite you to a public lecture “Is Personal Data More Valuable Than Oil?”

Gaidar Institute is launching series of public lectures at the cozy “Biblioteka na Gazetnom”!

We are kicking off this series with a lecture by Antonina Levashenko “Is Personal Data More Valuable Than Oil?” which will be held on April 23 at 19:00 at “Biblioteka na Gazetnom”. Due to technical issues, we had to reschedule the lecture. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your understanding and patience!

Our employees and invited colleagues plan to discuss extremely relevant and fascinating issues that literally every one of us faces:

  • Concentration of personal data in certain companies: how does this affect market competition and the relationship between users, companies, and the government?
  • Why does a company's access to large amounts of user data lead to manipulation of user decisions? Is this always the case?
  • Access to data for AI training, public interest enforcement, etc.: finding a balance of interests
  • Handling personal data in emergency situations: is it possible to comply with the law under extreme conditions?

Lecturer:

  • Antonina Levashenko, Head of International Best Practices Analysis Department at the Gaidar Institute

Panellists:

  • Alexey Muntyan, General Director, Privacy Advocates
  • Ivan Begtin, Director, ANO “Information Literacy”
