On April 13, the Library on Gazetny held presentation of the book by Alexander Knobel and Aleksey Ulyukaev ”China: The Anatomy of Slowdown”. The event brought together everyone interested in the current state and development prospects of the Chinese economy.
Authors of the book, Doctors of Economic Sciences, Researchers at the Economic Policy Foundation, provided a detailed account of the challenges China faces today. The discussion focused on the demographic situation and problems related to pension system, state of the economy, and weak domestic consumer demand. Speakers also paid special attention to cultural specifics that directly impact economic processes in the country, as well as infrastructure development.
A significant portion of the speech was devoted to China's prospects: whether the country will be able to adapt to new realities and what development scenarios are most likely.
The audience showed a keen interest in the topic. During the discussion, many questions were asked about the environmental situation in China, Russian-Chinese relations, and how the slowing Chinese economy might impact Russia. Many purchased the book "China: The Anatomy of a Slowdown" and received autographs from the authors.
Thank you to everyone who came, and we look forward to seeing you at future events at the Library on Gazetny!
