On October 22, 2025, Alexander Yuryevich Knobel, Senior Researcher at the International Trade Department of the Gaidar Institute, defended thesis for the degree of Doctor of Sciences before the Thesis committee of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. The topic of his research is “A Theoretical and Methodological Approach to Assessing the Impact of Foreign Economic Activity on the Development of the Russian Economy.”

Researchers of the Gaidar Institute’s International Best Practices Analysis Department prepared the next issue of the Monitoring of Legal Regulation of the Digital Economy №9(21),September 2025 where they talked about new trends in the development of regulation of the digital economy in the world.

On October 21, 2025, Andrey Polbin was at the RANEPA's Thesis committee for the defense of his doctorate thesis in economic studies. The topic of his scientific work is “Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Macroeconomic Modeling of Economic Systems with High Dependence on Hydrocarbons.”

On October 13, the Nobel Committee announced the 2025 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences to the eminent economic historian Joel Mokyr. The award was given for identifying the historical preconditions for sustained economic growth through technological progress and demonstrating that continuous innovation requires not only practical knowledge but also a scientific understanding of how technology works.

The Gaidar Institute presents a new project – an original podcast “Economics on Air,” in which experts analyze current trends and events in the field of economics in detail. The focus is on key issues such as the development of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, price dynamics, the national currency exchange rate, digital asset regulation, inflationary processes, and labor market transformation.

Natalya Volchkova, Professor at the New Economic School (NES), Director of the NES Center for Financial and Economic Research, the VAVT Vice-Rector for Research, prepared a review on the book by Kate Manne ”Down Girl: The Logic of Misogyny”, issued by the Gaidar Publishing House in 2025.

From October 8 to 11, 2025, the VIII Interregional Investment and Financial Forum was held in Kaliningrad, bringing together representatives of the financial and real sectors of the economy, government authorities, the scientific community, and business. Alexey Vedev, Doctor of Economic Sciences and Leading Researcher at the Financial Research Department of the Gaidar Institute, took part in the forum.

Stepan Zemtsov, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Head of the Research Department of Development Economics at the Institute of Applied Economic Research of the Presidential Academy, has prepared a review on the book by Mehran Gul “The New Geography of Innovation: global fight for disruptive technologies”, issued by the Gaidar Institute Publishing House.

On October 2–3, 2025, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University hosted the All-Russia Scientific and Practical Conference “Formation and Development of Endowment Funds in Educational and Scientific Organizations: Theory and Practice.” Irina Tolmacheva, Head of the Legal Department at the Gaidar Institute and Deputy Director of the Endowment Fund for the Development of Social and Economic Sciences and Education, took part in the conference.

Within the scope of the "World Atomic Week" international forum, held at VDNKh in Moscow on September 25-28, 2025, round table discussion "Industrial Robotization: A Smart Machine to Help Humans, or will Cyborgs Replace Humans?" was held. The discussion was moderated by Alexei Vedev, Leading Researcher at the Gaidar Institute, Director of the Center for Macroeconomic Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
