Andrey Zubarev spoke at a seminar on the digital economy with a presentation on the future of cryptocurrency regulation

On June 3, 2026, Andrey Zubarev, Senior Researcher of the Digital Finance Department at the Gaidar Institute, took part in the 56th scientific seminar on research in the digital economy. the event was dedicated to relevant problems in the crypto capitalism.

The scientific seminar, which has been held at the Faculty of Economics on the first Wednesday of every month since December 2017, is one of the key discussion platforms for considering trends in the development of the digital economy.

In the course of the event, Andrey Zubarev delivered a presentation on "The Functions of crypto currency: The inevitable regulatory future." In his presentation, the expert examined in detail the fundamental principles underlying digital asset regulation in various countries.

Particular attention was paid to the functional approach to regulation applied by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), regulatory practices in the European Union, and the current classification of digital currencies.
