Outstanding scientist Revold Mikhailovich Entov has passed away

It is with deep sorrow that we announce that on October 22, 2025, at the age of 95, the outstanding scientist, full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Principal Researcher at the Gaidar Institute, Revold Mikhailovich Entov, passed away.

Revold Mikhailovich Entov graduated from the Faculty of Economics of A.M. Gorky Kharkov State University in 1954. In 1961, after completing his postgraduate studies at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the USSR Academy of Sciences, he defended his doctoral thesis “The Growth of Government Debt and the Problems of US Public Credit Development in the Postwar Period.” In 1977, he defended his doctoral thesis on political economy (“Problems of Price Movements in Modern Capitalism: The Example of the United States”). On March 31, 1994, he was elected a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the section of international relations.

Revold Mikhailovich Entov worked at the Institute since 1996 and for almost three decades was a mentor and teacher to several generations of economists. With his outstanding intellect, encyclopedic erudition, broad outlook, and inexhaustible curiosity, he made an invaluable contribution to the development of the Institute's academic activities and significantly improved the quality of its research.

The cherished memory of Revold Mikhailovich will forever remain in the hearts of his colleagues, students, and all those who had the good fortune to know this remarkable man.
