On 26 May 2009, the IET hosted the scientific workshop “How Financial Problems in the World are Transmitted from Developed to Developing Economies”. Irina Titel, economist of the IMF’s Research Department, delivered a report on the theme.

On 25 May 2009, the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies (Oslo) held a workshop on the scientific and practical issues of the latest phase of Russian military reform. The workshop was attended by researchers from the UK, Norway, Sweden, and Russia.

On April 16, 2009, the Russian State Humanitarian University hosted the Ninth International Research Conference “The 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 15th Anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation: Results and Prospects”.

On April 13, 2009, in the frame of the Russian Business Week, the RUIE held its 7th annual tax conference “The tax policy and the structural reconstruction of the economy”.

On April 7-9, 2009, the State University- the Higher School of Economics hosted the 10th international conference on problems of development of the economy and the society.

On March 31, 2009, the IET held a PRESENTATION of new monographs.

On December 23, 2008, the IET hosted an expert roundtable "Problems of protection of rights of conscripted and contracted military personnel at the new stage of the military reform" organized by the Public Initiative "Citizen and Army", the Union of committees of soldiers’ mothers of Russia, the Center for development of democracy and rights, and the IET, with the support of the Russian ombudsmen and the EC representative office in Russia.

The Russian-Arabic Business Forum "Arabia EXPO 2008" was held in Moscow on October 22-24, 2008.

September 29, 2008, IET hosted an international training workshop "Economic Models for Energyof and Environmental Policy Analysis" co-sponsored by EcoMod, IET, and the European Commission.

September 9, 2008, Yegor Gaidar and Anatoly Chubais presented their new monograph "Economic Notes" (Moscow, ROSSPEN, 2008. - 191 pages). The book comprises their essays and papers, some of which were already previously published , while the others are new ones, produced between January 2007 and May 2008.

July 3–5, 2008, the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, together with the Universitat Bonn, the Johannes Gutenberg Universitat and Ruprecht-Karls-Universitat Heidelberg, co-sponsored an international conference "The History of Double Taxation Conventions"

On July 1-4, 2008, the Russian International Law Association held its 51st annual meeting on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 40th anniversary of the Treaty of the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the 20th anniversary of the UN Convention on Fight against Illegal Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.

On July 1, 2008, IET hosted an international workshop on labor productivity and its dynamics in the CIS and eastern European countries. The World Bank’s Chief Economist on Russia J. Bogetich contributed to the Workshop.

On 29–31 May, 2008, A. Levashenko, research fellow of the IET’s Tax Policy Department, took part in the 3rd International School of young lawyers-researchers entitled “Efficacy of legislation and modern legal technologies”.
