OLGA IZRYADNOVA: “CONSTRUCTION SECTOR PROVED TO BE LESS VULNERABLE TO THE PANDEMIC SHOCK”

Olga Izryadnova, Head of Structural Policy Department of the Gaidar Institute, told IA REGNUM that, given the unconditional importance of support for households and business, the restoration of investment activity in the Russian economy remains an urgent issue.
“Although construction proved to be less vulnerable under the coronavirus pandemic   (restrictions have been lifted faster in this industry compared to other businesses), however, a decrease in profits and corporate incomes negatively affects investment decisions. In the current situation, the importance of investment programs in the field of healthcare, pharmaceutical industry, scientific research and staff training has increased. In addition, the requirements towards the education system and the sector of information and communication services have changed”, the expert noted.

According to Olga Izryadnova, these factors will significantly influence on the structure of investments, including within the frame of national projects.
