OLGA IZRAYDNOVA: “WHAT RUSSIAN GDP GROWTH IS LIKELY TO BE IN 2021”

In 2021, Russian GDP growth should be assessed cautiously because consumer market dynamics remained negative, Olga Izraydnova, Head of the Structural Policy Department, Gaidar Institute said to the IA REGNUM News Agency. This is the way Olga Izraydnova commented on the forecast by Alexei Kudrin, Head of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation that GDP growth in the Russian Federation would be short of 3%.

“By the Rosstat’s estimates, in Q1 GDP growth was equal to 99.0% on the previous year’s index. Generally, it is difficult to make predictions till the end of the year based on the Q1 results. Industrial output and consumer market dynamics remained in the negative territory. Net exports’ contribution to GDP dynamics declined. All these factors predetermine a cautious attitude to annual growth assessment,” Olga Izraydnova notes.
