OLGA IZRAYDNOVA: “IN 2020 THE SHARE OF INVESTMENTS IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION PEAKED”

In 2020, the share of capital investments in Russian GDP hit the five-year high of 18.9%. Olga Izraydnova, Head of the Structural Policy Department, Gaidar Institute said to the IA REGNUM Information Agency.

“The specifics of the 2020 results consisted in a moderate decrease in capital investments as compared to GDP dynamic and households’ ultimate consumption. In 2020, the share of capital investments hit the

five-year high of 18.9%. Despite changes in the global capital market situation amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the inflow of foreign direct investments underpinned the implementation of the earlier and new investment projects,” Olga Izraydnova noted.

According to Olga Izraydnova, international rating agencies assessed positively the Russian authorities’ efforts to overcome the pandemic’s negative effects.

“So, the starting conditions were quite satisfactory for the beginning of 2021 and economic recovery dynamic underpined investment demand,” Olga Izraydnova believes.
