Lora Nakoryakova on whether the wage race will end in 2025

Lora Nakoryakova, Deputy Director of the Center for Evidence-Based Expertise at the Gaidar Institute, Partner in the AGENCYTDE, told Business-Secrets, what companies can do to cope with staff shortages.

In 2025, optimism in the business environment is likely to be more restrained, predicts Lora Nakoryakova. The share of companies that expect revenue and profit growth this year is 10–15 p.p. lower than those who indicated increased performance in 2024. According to the expert’s forecast, less than half companies will see revenue growth in 2025, probably 35–40%. This will affect salaries as well: the trend towards their growth will continue, but the pace may slow down by 1.5–2 times.

The expert advises companies experiencing labor shortages to cooperate with specialized educational institutions, such as universities and technical colleges, with regard to required professions. For example, practically targeted seminars and scholarship programs for the best students provide timely training of employees that optimizes business expenses on internships and education.

Nakoryakova also recommends using more often non-standard formats of cooperation with specialists: part-time work, outsourcing, self-employed
