Experts of the Gaidar Institute on Russia’s economy records

Lora Nakoryakova, and Deni Sugaipov, experts of the Gaidar Institute, shared with Komsomolskaya pravda their vision of the records in Russia’s economy achieved despite international sanctions.

Thus, in 2024, domestic tourism in Russia reached a historical maximum. Lora Nakoryakova, Partner at the Center for Evidence- Based Expertise of the Gaidar Institute and AGENCYTDE, believes that the trend of growth in domestic tourist traffic in the coming years will be sustainable. This is primarily due to major modernization of transport infrastructure (air, road, rail). This has simplified access to many tourist sites. Moreover, the infrastructure as a whole has improved with new facilities built to accommodate and entertain tourists. Among interesting trends is the propensity of Russians to make more frequent but shorter trips. According to the expert, the number of trips across the country will grow by 7% annually until 2030.

Deni Sugaipov, Researcher, Department of Mathematical Modelling of Economic Processes at the Gaidar Institute, commenting on record low unemployment rates in Russia, mentioned that the demand for labor exceeds the supply. The shortage of workers on the labor market stimulates wage rises. Likewise, as wages rise, the demand increases. Therefore, these factors cause prices to rise. Since in the current situation the demand for labor exceeds the supply it creates a tight labor market for employers. To a certain extent, they lose from the current situation.

However, according to the expert, the shortage of workers will encourage businesses to introduce automation and use new technologies in their work processes, which is important for further economic growth.
