EVGENY GORYUNOV: “WHAT DOES THE RECORD REDUCTION OF THE CENTRAL BANK KEY RATE PROVE?”

Evgeny Goryunov, Researcher of the Gaidar Institute, spoke in an interview to radio “Sputnik”, how the reduction of the Central Bank key rate will influence the life of Russians.
The Central Bank reduced key rate to 4.5% per year, having renewed its historical minimum. According to Evgeny Goryunov, business will remain alert despite interventions.
The expert of the Gaidar Institute said: “It is hoped that this will slightly urge banks, they will issue mortgages at more affordable rates. This is a good news for borrowers. Nevertheless, I doubt that at this time those who want to take a mortgage loan will queue up. People behave cautiously, they are guided by the level of uncertainty and, besides, they have loans that need to be repaid”.
