Dmitry Kuznetsov, Researcher at the International Trade Department of the Gaidar Institute, commented for TASS on the potential consequences of Apple distributors banning iPhone shipments from India to Russia.

"In 2025, smartphone shipments from India slowed down: judging by preliminary statistics, by about a third. In Russia, an average of about 30 million smartphones are sold per year, with Apple's share estimated at 8-9%, or about 2.5 million units. Assuming that Apple's share of smartphone exports from India to Russia is the same as the average share for all countries and is estimated by experts at 30%, we have an estimate of about 100,000–120,000 Apple smartphones per year from India, or about 4–5% of all shipments. Such volumes can be replaced quite painlessly by supplies through other countries," the expert said.

At the same time, Dmitry Kuznetsov pointed out the possible risks. In his opinion, if Apple's restrictive measures in India prove effective, the company may extend this practice to other countries, which will have more pronounced consequences for Russian consumers.
