Antonina Levashenko and Maria Girich on humanoid robots

Experts of the International Best Practices Analysis Department at the Gaidar Institute, talked in the publication for Nezavisimaya gazeta on the specifics of creating humanoid robots.

Antonina Levashenko, Head of International Best Practices Analysis Department at the Gaidar Institute, explained that the amount of data that a robotics company possesses plays an important advantage in the development of humanoid robots. It is this data and its analysis that will allow recreating the robot’s non-verbal behavior, such as postures, gazes or gestures. This plays an important role in human interaction and hence will influence the sales growth.

The expert also noted that robots should not be expected to completely replace people at workplaces: «Completely unmanned production is impossible, as robots can be discharged, make mistakes in the process of their constant self-learning, which humans need to monitor.»

Maria Girich, Researcher, International Best Practices Analysis Department at the Gaidar Institute, emphasized that introduction of industrial robots in Russia is still slow: «By the end of 2023, almost 13,000 industrial robots had been introduced into Russian enterprises. Every year their number grows by about 1500. Meanwhile, it is necessary to produce more than 94,000 robots by 2030.»
