Anastasia Levchenko, Researcher at the Gaidar Institute’s Industrial Organization and Infrastructure Economics Department spoke to Nezavisimaya Gazeta about the current state and growth areas of industrial cooperation within the EAEU.
The expert assessed the prospects for joint projects with Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the importance of new measures to support industrial cooperation.
According to Anastasia Levchenko, statements made by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at the “Innoprom-2026” exhibition in Yekaterinburg confirm the commitment to deepening industrial cooperation within the EAEU. Today, Russia’s interaction with its partners is increasingly based not only on mutual trade but also on the creation of joint production facilities in high-tech sectors.
“We see that cooperation within the EAEU is gradually reaching a new level. Whereas previously the main indicator was growth in trade volume, joint production, technology localization, and the formation of shared production chains are now becoming increasingly important. This is particularly evident in Belarus, where cooperation is developing in mechanical engineering, machine tool manufacturing, and transportation equipment manufacturing, as well as in Kyrgyzstan, which is becoming a hub for large-scale energy and logistics projects. “The EAEU’s industrial cooperation financing program is providing additional momentum to this process; its expansion will enable the launch of new projects with high added value,” noted Anastasia Levchenko.
