ALEXEY VEDEV SPOKE AT THE INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF FINanciers (ICF) IN ST. PETERSBURG

Alexey Vedev, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Head of the Financial Studies Department of the Gaidar Institute, took part in the International Congress of Financiers (ICF-2022) held in St. Petersburg on 28 April.
The International Congress of Financiers has been organized by the Moscow International Currency Association (MICA) and the Community of Financial Market Professionals, and focused on the activity of financial industry. The event traditionally brings together Heads of central and commercial banks, financial institutions, international financial organizations, regulators, scientists and businessmen, as well as recognized experts from around the world.
Alexey Vedev delivered a presentation in the course of a session “Sanctions and post-COVID syndrome in the global economy. A New Global Market Landscape” on the current development of the Russian economy and measures to support it. According to expert, the Russian economy will face a protracted crisis that will be felt in June-July 2022 at the earliest, with the expected fall of economy in the range of 40%. Amid the uncertain environment, it is difficult to predict any scenario for Russia's economic development, as it is complicated by external pressures and sanctions.
