ALEKSEY VEDEV: FINANCIAL MARKET ACQUIRES A SHORT-TERM INVESTMENT TREND

Aleksey Vedev, Head of Financial Studies Department of the Gaidar Institute, commented to IZ.ru on the potential reasons for reduction of long-term financial investments of business companies.
Aleksey Vedev concluded: “The trend for short-term investments will increase around the world  due to coronavirus outbreak and fall of stock markets as a result of collapse of the OPEC + oil transaction. Business companies experience negative expectations as it is not clear what tomorrow and the next day will bring. The risk of negative growth rates for the Russian economy is high and, therefore, currently, there are hardly any ways to force business companies “to play the long game”. The shorter the instrument is, the more comfortable they are”.
