A Comprehensive Analysis of Macroeconomic Effects of Functioning of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space in a Dynamically Changing External Environment (the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), 2013-2014)

In September 2013, experts of the Gaidar Institute started a comprehensive analysis of the macroeconomic effects of functioning of the Customs Union (CU) and the Single Economic Space (SES) in a dynamically changing external environment within the frameworks of the agreement with the Eurasian Economic Commission.


The purpose of the research consisted in analyzing, modeling and quantity evaluation of the effects of the integration into the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space on trade flows between partner-countries, as well as the dynamics of output and investments by OKVED groups.

The objectives of the research were as follows:


• Review and evaluation of formal models of evaluation of the macroeconomic effects of the economic integration; 


• Formation of the data base for a mathematical analysis, development of the econometric model for identification of economic effects of regional economic integration of member-states of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space;

 

• Quantitative evaluation and analysis of the outputs received on the basis of the models;


• Development of proposals as regards relaxation of internal limitations on development of the economic integration within the existing regulatory and legal frameworks.

 

The research is to be carried out in four stages and completed by June 1, 2014.
