The Library on Gazetny hosted a discussion on the future of China’s economy and the prospects for partnership with Russia

On July 28, the Library on Gazetny hosted a public lecture on the timely topic “China on the Threshold of Change: Internal Imbalances and Critical Crossroads.” The event brought together an audience interested in contemporary economic processes in the Asia-Pacific region and their global implications.

Olga Ponomareva, expert at the Economic Policy Foundation, spoke in detail about the internal imbalances in the Chinese economy, focusing particularly on the demographic, structural, and socioeconomic challenges China faces today.

During the lecture, participants discussed which shifts are already taking place in China’s economy and which are just beginning to emerge. Particular attention was paid to identifying the main drivers of growth for the coming years and how Beijing is revising its foreign economic strategy to strengthen its global position.

The central question of the meeting was an analysis of what these large-scale transformations mean for Russia as a key foreign economic partner of China. Attendees were able not only to hear an expert assessment but also to participate in a lively dialogue by asking questions and sharing their views, which made the discussion truly engaging and substantive.

The Library on Gazetny continues to develop educational projects and invite experts to discuss important contemporary issues.
