SERGEI TSUKHLO: IN AUGUST THE INDUSTRIAL CONFIDENCE INDICATOR REGAINED ITS PREVIOUS HIGH LEVEL

Sergei Tsukhlo, Head of the Business Surveys Laboratory of the Gaidar Institute was asked by the Expert magazine to comment on the estimates of the Industrial Confidence Indicator (ICI) in August.

The initial estimates of the ICI in August pointed to symbolic growth. The increase in the ICI which is calculated on the basis of regular business surveys was facilitated by only one initial index, that is, the estimates of the current volume of demand (satisfaction with it). “In August this index regained its previous high level: 63% of the enterprises find their sales volumes normal against 55% in June-July”, Sergei Tsukhlo notes.
