Marina Turuntseva spoke at a seminar organized by the Bank of Russia, the Russian Economic Society, and the National Research University Higher School of Economics on big data in economics

On November 12, the 16th Seminar on Economic Research, “Big and Alternative Data in Finance and Economics: Challenges and Achievements,” took place. Marina Turuntseva, Senior Researcher at Short-Term Forecasting Department, Gaidar Institute, participated in the roundtable discussion “Data for Modern Research: Practical Aspects.” In her report, “[Big] Data: A Luxury or a Resource Curse?”, she presented a systematic analysis of the opportunities and challenges of working with different types of data for socio-economic research.

The seminar was hosted by the Bank of Russia, the Russian Economic School (RES), and the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE). The event brought together experts from the scientific community, business, and regulators to discuss current theoretical and practical issues related to the use of large data sets in economic research.
