Maria Girich, Researcher of the International Best Practices Analysis Department at the Gaidar Institute, commented in details for RIA Novosti on the calculation of gas consumption for making the New Year Olivier salad. Citing data from Gazprom Mezhregiongaz, she explained that consumption depends on the burner type and the network gas pressure.
"A small burner can consume about 0.125 cubic meters per hour, a medium burner about 0.25 cubic meters, and a large burner about 0.27 cubic meters," noted Maria Girich. The expert clarified that in practice, consumption is often lower than the rated capacity. "However, in practice, consumption can be approximately half, i.e. about 0.15 cubic meters per hour," she added.
Therefore, according to the expert, 50 minutes of one burner operation can consume between 0.21 and 0.25 cubic meters of gas. When cooking various vegetables together, with the burner running for about 30 minutes, the gas consumption will be between 0.125 and 0.15 cubic meters.
Gas costs, as Maria Girich emphasized, directly depend on the regional tariff. "For example, in Moscow, the tariff is Rb9.71 per cubic meter, so for 50 minutes cooking the cost will be Rb2 to 2.4, and for 30 minutes this will be Rb1.2 to 1.45," the expert concluded. She added that in the Moscow region, prices will be comparable, given the slight difference in tariffs.
