The executive order signed by Donald Trump to reduce drug prices in the US by 30–80% may result in higher drug prices in other countries, including Russia. This opinion was expressed for Nezavisimaya Gazeta by Lyubov Filin, Head of Evidence-Based Regulatory Practice Department at the Gaidar Institute.

“The introduction of a “most-favored-nation” policy in the US means that US drug prices will be tied to the lowest world prices. This could lead to lower revenues for pharmaceutical companies in the US. To compensate for losses, they may try to raise prices in other countries, including Russia,” the expert said.
