International Conference on the Pension Reform

An International Conference on the Pension Reform organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Ukraine and the United States Agency for International Development (Capital Markets Development Project) was held in Kiev on April 28-29, 2010. Experts of the IET Laboratory of the Financial Sector – L.I. Sycheva and L.V. Mikhailov – participated in that conference.  

 

The conference’s main goal was to acquaint the authorities, market participants and the Ukrainian mass media with different options of development of the funded pension systems. 

 

 

The conference was attended by representatives of the Ukrainian authorities (including I. Akimova, the First Deputy Head of the Administration of the Ukrainian President, V. Seminozhenko, Vice Prime Minister, V. Nadraga, Minister of Labor and Social Policy, members of Rada and others), as well as international experts in pension system (Gianina Yaruzelski, USAID Mission Director, Greg McTaggart, USAID Senior International Advisor on Pension Reform Issues with the Capital Markets Development Project, Richard Symonds, Senior Legal Advisor of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and others).  

 

 

Experts and state pension funds managers from Armenia, Hungary, China, Poland, Russia, Singapore, the USA and Sweden shared views on their countries’ experience in that area. On behalf of Russia, L.I. Sycheva, PhD, Economics, IET Leading Research Fellow delivered a report on the Russian Scheme of Organization of the Second Pillar of the Pension System.
