Evgeny Goryunov, Head of Monetary Policy Department at the Gaidar Institute, commented to Nezavisimaya Gazeta on the initiative of the State Duma Deputies to ease the inflation goals.
According to the expert, the temporary effect of the "printing press" will quickly fade, while high inflation will remain. If the target level is raised to 6%, real inflation will accelerate to 10-12%. This will result in a weakening ruble, a decline in confidence in ruble savings, and make loans even shorter and more expensive.
