In a comment for «Izvestia» Denis Ternovsky, Expert at Economic Policy Foundation, explained the seasonal dynamics of champagne prices in the pre-New Year period.
The expert noted a general high increase in alcohol prices, significantly outpacing inflation: “Overall, all categories of alcoholic beverages showed double-digit price growth, outpacing the general level of inflation.”
Denis Ternovsky noted the traditional seasonal reduction in the price of the drink at the end of the year, explaining this by the marketing policy of sellers: “In November and December, sparkling wine is traditionally cheaper: producers and sellers stimulate demand ahead of the holidays. Thus, the seasonal factor will smooth out the price increase, and sparkling wine will not become more expensive in December.”
