On September 21, a lecture titled "Modern Business in Russia: SME Support Policy" was held at the "Library on Gazetny." The event brought together researchers, experts and anyone interested in the state regulation of small and medium-sized businesses.
Speaker Vera Barinova, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Senior Researcher at the Gaidar Institute, presented a comprehensive overview of the evolution of state support for SME in Russia. Participants discussed the SME Development Strategy till 2030, the "Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurship" national project, as well as the results and limitations of existing support measures. Particular attention was paid to feedback regarding why state support has had a limited impact on the sector, despite the wide range of available instruments.
As a guest speaker, Alexey Shestoperov, Head of the Directorate for Legal Support for SME at JSC SME Corporation, outlined the Corporation’s practical operational mechanisms, including financial instruments, "umbrella" guarantees, standard guarantees, and cooperation and sales programs, as well as the capabilities of the MSP.RF digital platform.
