ALEXEI VEDEV: THERE ARE NO REAL STIMULI FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH SO FAR

Alexei Vedev, Leading Researcher of the Financial Studies Lab, the Gaidar Institute made a comment to the "Gazeta.Ru" on the reaction of the RF Accounts Chamber to the draft law on the budget for 2020–2022.

In its conclusion to the draft law on the budget for 2020-2022, the RF Accounts Chamber reported that the macroeconomic forecast, on which the budget was based, was unrealistic. Auditors doubt that economic growth rates will be equal to 3.1% of GDP by 2021 as forecasted in the budget for the next three-year period.

According to Alexei Vedev, there are no real stimuli for economic growth in 2020. It will be equal to around 1% next year.  It is highly questionable whether national projects can become economic drivers.

"The budget should be based on more conservative assumptions”, Alexei Vedev believes.
