Irina Starodubrovskaya Took Part in the “Diagnostics and Identification of Key Problems” Expert Session

On March 21, 2019, Irina Starodubrovskaya, Head of the Center for Political Economy and Regional Development , the Gaidar Institute  took part in the 2nd expert session – The Diagnostics and Identification of Key Problems – which  was held within the frameworks of development of the Strategy for Social and Economic Development of the Republic of Dagestan in the Period till 2035 in Makhachkala .   


The work on the document is carried out by a project team with participation of federal experts, public representatives and businessmen.

The session was attended by Artem Zdunov, Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan, Dmitri Zemlyanski, Chairman of the Council for the Study of Productive Forces of the Russian Academy of Foreign Trade of the RF Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Osman Khasbulatov, Minister of Economy and Territorial Development of the Republic of Dagestan and key experts.

Proceeding from the federal and international context, representatives of Russia’s leading scientific and expert centers exchanged their views on regional development issues faced by the Republic of Dagestan, such as tourism, transport infrastructure and other.

Irina Starodubrovskaya touched upon the issue of development of Dagestan in terms of the spatial development of the Russian Federation.  In particular, Irina Starodubrovskaya emphasized the need of taking into account the regional specifics of Dagestan, particularly, in solution of the issue related to the lands of distant-pasture cattle tending. The creation of conditions for the business to get out of the “shadow” was a priority, the expert noted. Also, Irina Starodubrovskaya touched upon the issue of Dagestan’s multiculturalism which had a serious potential for development of the region.
