THE GAIDAR INSTITUTE CONDUCTED A STUDY ON DIGITAL ECOSYSTEMS
Having analyzed a huge amount of digital ecosystems, the Gaidar Institute’s researchers came to the conclusion that the net profit of Russian private ecosystems is 60 times lower than that of leading foreign companies.
Analysts believe that so far, Russian ecosystems have not realized their full growth potential compared to their foreign counterparts, as the value of Russian platforms amounted to only 0.76% of the value of the top 100 platforms around the world. According to IEP experts, many regulatory goals in Russia can be achieved through self-regulation; this has to do with the dynamic development of ecosystems and the difficulties in developing a uniform approach to regulation. In this connection, it is important to assess international experiences; however, at present no general approach to separate regulation has evolved abroad.
