STEPAN ZEMTSOV SPOKE AT THE 59th CONGRESS OF THE EUROPEAN ASSOCIATION OF REGIONAL SCIENCE

On the 27-30th of August, Stepan Zemtsov, Senior Researcher of the Gaidar Institute took part in the 59th Congress of the European Association of Regional Science, which was held in Lyon (France).
The expert made presentations in two sections, and was also the moderator of the section “Innovations and Entrepreneurship”.

The report in the section was devoted to the risks of the 4th industrial revolution assessed the share of jobs exposed to automation in the regions of Russia. For Russia as a whole, this estimate does not exceed half the workforce, but for the regions of the North Caucasus and a number of manufacturing centers, the risks are higher.

The report in the section devoted to the development of innovations and entrepreneurship in the regions revealed the role of institutional conditions and innovative potential of Russian regions in their development. Based on econometric calculations, the significance of these characteristics for regional development in Russia is shown.
