Round Table "Assessment of Technologies in Healthcare - NICE Experience"
On December 12, 2012, a round table on "Assessment of Technologies in Healthcare (ATH), Clinical Guidelines and Quality Standards - NICE Experience in the UK and Possibility of its Implementation in Russia" was held at Gaidar Institute.
The Session was attended by representatives of the International Cooperation Department of the UK National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE International), the RF healthcare regulatory authorities, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Moscow Department of Healthcare, as well as experts of the leading medical research and economic centers.
ATH system starts to play the key role in the progress of healthcare reform. While earlier the ATH elements were used only by medical professionals, today it is in a growing demand at the level of experts in economics and healthcare regulatory authorities. The Round Table is an excellent opportunity to study all those methods.
Scientific recommendations, standards and indicators of medical aid quality, DRG (diagnosis-related groups) system, which are now studied in detail by the Ministry of Healthcare and Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund, pricing mechanisms and incentives to improve the quality and efficiencyof the healthcare system, key technical and procedural aspects of ATH development and implementation were discussed at the event.
In order to develop new approaches to healthcare technology assessment, the "Center for Assessment of Technologies in Health Care", headed by Vitaly Omelyanovsky, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, was established under the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.
