REGNUM PUBLISHES A BOOK REVIEW ON ADAM TOOZE’S “CRASHED” PUBLISHED BY THE GAIDAR INSTITUTE’S PUBLISHING HOUSE

Within 15 years, the “globalization”, which used to be an important and inevitable factor of our life, has turned into an outdated concept overthrown by the new nationalism. But why did all the international ties and efforts disappear? Were they just a myth? Or is the present-day nationalism a cunning fabrication of the global world?
How do forces of attraction and repulsive forces, as well as mutual interest and private interest correlate?  In which way do notorious global ties come out and how do different states correlate with them? Adam Tooze, a US economic historian  answers these questions in his book “Crashed. How a Decade of Financial Crises Changed the World”.

The author defines meticulously the networking of the global financial system covering the US, the EU, China and, to a smaller extent, the Eastern Europe and Russia.  With the logic of this system taken into account, Adam Tooze tries to correlate the efforts taken by financiers and government officials from different countries during the crisis of 2007−2013, as well as political shifts after 2016.
