“NEE” Foundation of the Gaidar Institute took on the role of a strategic partner of the VI International Universities’ Forum

“New Economic Education” Foundation of the Gaidar Institute took on the role of a strategic partner of the VI International Universities’ Forum “Global Competitiveness”, held in Moscow on June 6th.

RAEX rating agency, PA expert, presented in the Forum an annual rating of the best 100 universities of Russia as well as the latest rating of the best schools of Russia as per the competitiveness of their graduates. Among the leaders were: Moscow State Lomonosov University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, National Research Nuclear University, St. Petersburg State University and Higher School of Economics.

The following questions were considered in the course of the plenary session “Harmonious development of the university as a key to competitiveness:
- how to secure the access to a quality education in the regions, i.e. through the expansion of the capital-based universities or internally;
- how to provide a quality training for the widespread skills;
- how to combine the achievements of multi-disciplinary and specialized universities;
- how to maintain a balance between the global competitiveness and own identity of the universities.

Marina Borovskaya, Rector of the Southern Federal University, Andrey Volkov, Rector of the Moscow State National Research University of Civil Engineering, Viktor Koshkarev, Rector of Urals Federal University named after the I President of Russia B.N.Eltsin, Nikolay Kudriavtsev, Rector of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Mikhail Pogosian, Rector of the Moscow Aviation Institute, Andrey Rudskoy, Rector of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University named after Peter the Great, Waldemar Siwinski, Vice – President, IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence, Mikhail Strikhanov, Rector of the National Research Nuclear University, Dmitry Fursaev, Rector of “Dubna” State University, Evgeny Chuprunov, Rector of the Nizhny Novgorod Lobachevsky University and Mikhail Eskindarov, Rector of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, spoke in the course of the discussion.

Dmitry Grishankov, President of RAEX, moderated the discussion.

Participants of the 1st section focused on the topic “Development of international integration of the universities: tasks, mechanisms, results” tackled the challenges and results of the development of international integration in the field of education, consequent new opportunities for students, massive open on-line courses, ways to secure the sustainability of citation of the academic works.

Section 2 was dedicated to the topic “Rating of the universities, their impact on the society and academic community”. Speakers talked about rating strategies of the universities, rebranding and experience in the enhancing of the attractiveness of the university’s brand, an impact of the university on the regional development and its reflection in the ratings, training of the scientific/technical elite as a key strategical element of the university, entrepreneurship as a strategical element of the development of the university.

NEE Foundation was established in 2000. Its main goal is to conduct the activity striving to implement non-commercial projects in the field of the secondary, higher and additional education, support and organization of scientific research, dissemination and promotion of economic knowledge and other charity goals.
