ISSUE #55 OF THE VESTNIK YEVROPY MAGAZINE: THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GAIDAR INSTITUTE

The topic of the issue: “30×30=2050. Thirty Years Back, Thirty Years Forward”

One of the issue’s sections is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Gaidar Institute.

Viktor Yarosheno, Editor-in-Chief writes: “In December 2020 the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy marked its 30th anniversary. The celebrations were modest -- an academic zoom conference format of traditional December “Gaidar Readings”; the only difference was that employees’ reports alternated with video congratulations from members of the Supervisory Board and the Institute’s friends.

Today, even during coronavirus restrictions anniversary celebrations do not surprise anybody; however, this relatively new non-government institute established late in 1990 on the basis of the Academy of National Economy on the initiative of Academician A.G. Aganbegyan has played a very special role in the Russian modern history: the Institute developed the documents which were later called the Program of Sweeping Economic Reforms or the Gaidar Program.”
