Gaidar Readings Started in Oryol

On 11 April, Gaidar Readings started in Oryol. The main topic of the readings was “Sustainable Economic Growth: Political and Social Prerequisites”.

Gaidar Readings began with an open lecture by Abel Aganbegyan, Head of Chair of Economic Theory and Policy at RANEPA Department of Finance and Banking, academician at the Russian Academy of Sciences, who talked about possible options for Russia resuming socioeconomic growth.

Further, the readings were divided into four thematic sections: “Regional aspects of ensuring the sustainability of economic growth”, “Problems of sustainable development of the agricultural sector in modern Russia”, “The role of the state in structural transformations: Historical, political and legal aspects”, “The potential of sociology and psychology of management at the present stage of social development”. At these thematic sections, representatives of educational and research institutions as well as businesses from Moscow, Oryol, Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Minsk and St. Petersburg delivered their reports.

For example, Sergey Drobyshevsky, Gaidar Institute Scientific Director, spoke about economic policy challenges and factors of economic growth in the Russian Federation at the present stage at the section “Regional aspects of ensuring the sustainability of economic growth”.

The second day of Gaidar Readings started with the plenary session “Sustainable economic growth: Political and social prerequisites” chaired by Gaidar Institute Executive Director Sergey Prikhodko.
