Analysis of the Prospects of Private Healthcare Financing (press-release)

This publication contains analysis of the development of the system of private healthcare financing in Russia in 1990s–2000s. The authors study modern challenges to the system of healthcare financing and factors determining the development of main institutional forms of the households and employers participation in financing healthcare: medical service payment, informal payments, voluntary health insurance. The authors analyze possibilities for the formation of new institutions: co-payments of patients for medical services, health insurance, medical savings accounts. Three scenarios were offered for the development of healthcare financing till 2020.
