In the freight transportation industry, there is a trend towards the expansion of transportation and logistics services, which was facilitated by the development of transport and warehousing infrastructure. The growth of freight flows is facilitated by Russia’s inclusion in international trade and transport flows: according to preliminary estimates, in 2024, the volume of freight traffic along the Trans-Caspian international transport route (TCITR) increased significantly (by 63% to 4 mn tons). The development of passenger transport is facilitated by the growing demand for transportation services, in particular air services, as well as the growth of transportation efficiency due to an increase in flight hours and passenger seat occupancy. The sector managed to overcome the recession of the previous years and reduce the backlog of transportation workloads from pre-crisis levels.
