The Gaidar Readings in Pyatigorsk

On April 12-13, 2012, in the city of Pyatigorsk the Gaidar Readings dedicated to challenges and the potential of development of North Caucasus were held.
The conference was attended by employees of the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the Gaidar Fund, as well as representatives of the North Caucasian Federal District.

Within the frameworks of the Gaidar Readings, a plenary session was held. It was attended among other speakers by Irina Starodubrovskaya, Director of the Center for Political Economy and Regional Development of the Gaidar Institute who spoke about the prospects of economic development and conflicts in North Caucasus and Nina Mironova, Reseacher of the Municipal Development Department of the IEP who told about land relations and land conflicts in Dagestan. In addition to the above, a round table - the Policy in North Caucasus: What Experts Propose - was held (the moderator of the round table was I.V. Starodubrovskaya, Director of the Center for Political Economy and Regional Development of the Gaidar Institute).

 

On April 13, a round table on the issues of federalism was held for students of the North Caucasian Academy of Public Administration which is the Pyatigorsk Branch of the RANEPA.
