Presentation of the Book – The Crossroads of Russia’s Latest History – by Yegor Gaidar and Anatoly Chubais

On November 7,  2011,  presentation of the book – The Crossroads of Russia’s Latest History – by Yegor Gaidar and Anatoly Chubais was held.

The last work of Yegor Gaidar was created by him in cooperation with Anatoly Chubais, his friend and longstanding team-mate.

The architects of the Russian reforms of the 90s present the history of Russia as a chain of crossroads  where at each crossroad the issue of further development of the country was decided differently .

"Though the words about the absence of  the subjunctive mood in history are banal, they are correct. What happened, that happened. However, as we participated in making key decisions in Russian politics we can testify that the idea that everything that happened was inevitable is inaccurate. The history knows crossroads which determined the course of events for many years to come. Without such understanding, it is difficult to assess events which took place in this country and in the world in the past decades", - the authors write in the introduction.

A particular attention is paid to the past 25 years: perestroika, collapse of the USSR and establishment and making of the new Russian state.

The book was presented by Anatoly Chubais. The presentation was  attended by Yevgeni Yasin, Alexei Kudrin, Leonid Gozman, Marietta Chudakova and Peyotr Filippov.
